About K.M.Neuhold:
I am an avid reader of romance, with New Adult romance being my favorite. I also love to read sci-fi and fantasy from time to time. I absolutely love to write romance and have a habit of developing ridiculous crushes on my characters. I spend my free time (not that I have much) with my husband and our dog Lola lounging on the couch watching Netflix.
What inspires you to write?
I am inspired by so many different things from a random song on the radio to seeing someone on the street. I have a habit of almost constantly writing stories in my head so almost anything can spark a scene in my head. This can be troublesome when I don’t have my laptop handy and I’ve been known to write scenes on scrap paper and napkins when I’m desperate.
Tell us about your writing process.
I tend to write the sexy or funny parts of my books first because those are what tend to be the most inspired, then I go back and fill in the ‘meat’ of the story.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I listen to my characters. I almost see it as a movie playing out in my head that I’m just trying to type fast enough to capture.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t overthink a first draft. If you’re inspired then get the words down on paper and don’t worry about what other people might think of them, or even if they’re grammatically correct to begin with. Worrying iand polishing s what the second draft is for.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I’ve had a life long dream of being an author and I’ve always written stories that I’ve most only shared with my sister and my husband. When I finished Worth the Wait (Sexy Nerd Boys, 1) I felt strongly that this might be something I’d be comfortable sharing with the world. My sister has published several erotica novellas herself and she both encouraged and guided me in the self publishing process.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think that with the way self publishing is blowing up that is absolutely the wave of the future.
