About JOHN BOYD:
John Boyd is a tattooer, machinist and business owner from Philadelphia PA. “Is my child on drugs” is the first book published by this author. While growing up in Philadelphia being raised by a single mother John got introduced to drugs at the very young age of 12. By the time he was 16 he was shooting heroin and cocaine daily. This set into motion a downward spiral of drug use, crime and homelessness. After 15 years of being a junkie he had finally reached a point where it was either get help or die. After living the life of a hard drug user, being homeless, dying twice and living to tell about it, John figured he had a story to tell and wanted to help people suffering from the same condition. One that could possibly save someone’s life who may be struggling with addiction just like he did. In “Is My Child On Drugs” John tells his story. He then covers the signs, symptoms and behaviors of use of every drug that a child or loved one might find on the street, and in the home. From weed and alcohol to heroin and methadone. What behaviors and physical symptoms to look for. He covers enabling and how a loved one might use family members to feed their addiction. The book ends with information on rehabs, halfway houses, jail and law enforcement. Also included are full color photos of drugs, drug packaging, drug paraphernalia and people using drugs. If you suspect a loved one might be doing drugs but you aren’t sure. Or maybe you are not educated on the “slang”, drugs themselves or behaviors of a drug user. Hopefully by reading this book someone can save a loved ones life and get them the help they need before its too late.
John now resides in Portland Or with his wife and dog. He tattoos, owns a tattoo supply company and a sushi cart in St Johns Or.
What inspires you to write?
I wanted to help people. Kids are dying every day from drug addiction. I felt by telling my story and publishing some very important info I could possibly save someone from this horrible condition.
Tell us about your writing process.
This is the first book I have ever written. I sit at my computer and the story and information just dumped out of me onto my computer. It came very easy for me.
What advice would you give other writers?
Make sure you proof read your book at least 3 times for mis-spellings and bad grammar. Then have someone else read it after that.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
To be honest I did not have money to get a publisher and have paperback books printed so my only alternative was to self publish an eBook.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think it is great because authors like myself who do not have the means to get books printed can easily get our stories out via self publishing through amazon, kindle etc.
What genres do you write?: Self help
What formats are your books in?: eBook
