About Jessie B Tyson:
Jessie B Tyson was born at Scalegill Place near Moor Row, a tiny village between the coast and the mountains in N.W. Cumbria, England. In what year? She’s a senior and will not divulge that, ladies prerogative but will just say she’ll be collecting a pension in a few years (grin.)
She was educated in her natal area and moved to Canada in the year 2000. Jessie wrote children’s and fantasy stories as a teenager. When she matured she moved on to writing adult stories. She has a great imagination and enjoys turning her vision-like dreams into enjoyable tales. Jessie considers herself as a Spiritual Christian, who believes in the Power of God but that doesn’t stop her writing paranormal fiction with ghosts and demons! 😀
Jessie has a wonderful sense of humour, and loves to laugh and tease her friends. She has a generous spirit and will help anyone in need. She has an affinity with animals, especially dogs, cats, horses and dolphins. Jessie abhors all forms of cruelty to any living breathing creature.
What inspires you to write?
People. I enjoy watching people. I’ve been inspired to write many stories by doing that. Thing is I’ve only had the nerve to publish one of them, so far titled WHITE HEAVEN WOMEN.
Next comes my dreams. I write what I dream about. Sometimes THEY aren’t fit to let anyone read them, so please dont ask….lol.
Tell us about your writing process.
I dont really have one. I just pick a person from my past then start writing their story, THEN I add fantasy elements to it, mostly ghosts. Most people we meet make really great characters!
I’ve learned its very easy to think, “Oh, this is a really good story. I’m going to publish this.” We think our story is perfect, then we let the editors loose on them. And boo hoo. I need to start all over again and we realise we arent as good as we thought so must not quit our day jobs..lol. Just keep on writing you’ll get there, eventually.
Oh, and I write phonetically. Its fun!
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
So far I’ve been writing stories around the people I know, so yes I talk to them..lol. THEN I change their names so they dont know the story is based on them. No, they aren’t nonfiction characters exactly. My muse turns them into fiction characters and I add ghosts or fantasy creatures. Its mostly ghosts though. I love writing about them. Have seen a few. Now now, don’t think I need medication..ha. My doctor didn’t think I did when I told him about the blue ghost I met as a teenager. (That true story is in audio on You Tube “why I added blue ghosts to my novel White Heaven Women.” )
Yes, its my own north English voice. I enjoy narrating for any author who asks, mostly as a favour. Theres a few on the same site, but will name one, JUMPER, a childrens story. Too many up there to write them all.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t so it. Naw, just joking. If you feel the need to start writing about anything, then do it. Always remember, no one is perfect. We need good critiquer and we absolutely MUST use editors before publishing. Remember again even editors are not perfect. Many miss things, just like we do. So don’t let any of them tell you they are God in the editing world (they ARE better than us though at seeing errors.)
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Hmm, this is kinda hard to answer. I don’t aspire to become famous BUT the money would be nice…lol.
CLAIM TO FAME next. I did meet J K Rowling once prior to moving to Canada. We chatted a short while in a coffee shop in Scotland. It was before she found a publisher for Harry Potter. She didn’t think she would ever find one. I told her to keep on keeping on. I can honestly say I saw her rough drafts. We encouraged each other to keep on writing. So yup, thats my claim to fame. I bet she doesn’t remember me, but I will not forget that meeting.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
You’re right. I have no crystal ball BUT I think at the rate authors keep underselling themselves, writing will soon be classed as a hobby. Yes, a hobby, because no one will be making any money fro their writing. But heck thats ok too.
I wrote these answers late at night. So please don’t bite me if I’ve gone off on any tangents and wrote my answers in the wrong boxes..lol. My book is also on NOOK.
Oh, one more thing about me. I’m a twitter and facebook fiend. I tweet until the early hours.
