About Jeremy Thompson:
Jeremy Thompson is a Southern California-based writer of horror, SF, thrillers and bizarro fiction. His bibliography includes The Phantom Cabinet, The Fetus and Other Stories, and Into the Darkness: Volume One’s closing tale.
What inspires you to write?
Music, inexplicable experiences, and great fiction, both on the page and on the screen.
Tell us about your writing process.
I have written stories without outlines, and stories so meticulously outlined that they were practically written before I started. I’ve found that the best approach lies somewhere between the two, so that you know where you’re going, but still leave yourself room for inspiration.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I like to read each character’s dialogue aloud, which helps me to climb into their head, and see things from their point of view.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t be discouraged by rejection. Every rejection provides you with the opportunity to improve your story before sending it out again.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I started out with self-publishing, mainly because my stories weren’t selling. Later, I was able to sell a story to Necro Publications for their Into the Darkness anthology, which led to them publishing my novel, The Phantom Cabinet.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I hope that ebooks don’t entirely replace print publications. It’s hard to display a Kindle book collection.
What genres do you write?: Horror, science fiction, thriller, bizarro
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
