Author Bio:
Jason is in his early forties and currently lives near the small Kentucky town he grew up in. He shares his home with a very patient wife, several children, and one small and incredibly neurotic dog.
The Quantum Mechanic eBook Series is his first foray into writing.
What inspires you to write?
Usually a unique concept or idea. It has to be something that will remain interesting to me as I explore it through a novel length exercise.
Tell us about your writing process.
I think I write the same way that you paint. I tend to do a first run-through rather quickly in order to just lay down what I’m trying to say. A few chapters later I’ll go back, re-read it and adjust for story and readability. This becomes a set of continuing loops until I reach the end. I don’t do character profiles, but I do maintain a timeline for continuity sake. The Quantum Mechanic world is complex and I’m writing at three separate points in it’s timeframe at once. It can get exhausting just keeping track of the details.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
No, I’ve never had a conversation with one per-se, but they do seem to have minds of their own. They rarely do what I expect, except in the most plot critical areas.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t expect overnight popularity. It takes YEARS to build up a respectable readership.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I self published because I knew that getting a big publishing house to notice me would be next to impossible, and could bankrupt me in the process. This way I already have loyal fans who inspire me to keep writing.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think self publishing is the future, but that better mechanisms for self marketing need to develop.
What do you use?
Beta Readers
What genres do you write?
Science Fiction
What formats are your books in?
eBook
