About Jakova Pen:
Jakova began her educational pursuits in Graphic Design at the International Academy of Art & Design in Tampa, Florida, followed by eight years as a freelance graphic designer. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of California, Berkeley in Natural Resources and earned a Master of Science from the University of Southern California in Geographic Information Science and Technology with an emphasis in Sustainable Development. Her aspirations are to inspire adults and children alike towards conservation and sustainability through art and music.
What inspires you to write?
I was inspired by my daughter to combine my knowledge with my passion in hopes of influencing her generation towards stewardship for the Earth.
Tell us about your writing process.
Writing Musically Grown began with the music I found myself singing for her and then translating that into message of value I hope to communicate to her.
What advice would you give other writers?
My advice to other writers is that writers write and that the key to getting ahead is getting started.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided to self-publish because it just seemed the fastest route from point A to point B for me; which was to see my material in print.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think a future which the online exchange of information in whatever each of our 3-5 keywords may be is just around the corner from being the norm for most.
What genres do you write?: I hope to evolve my target age group along with that of my daughter.
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
