About Jahlahn Taylor:
Hello, My name is Jahlahn Taylor I’m 21 years old and I am an author, actor, model, and director. I’ve been writing since I was in the 2nd grade, starting on a children’s series that I won’t name because it will be released in 2016 along with other titles. My stories will always feature flawed and troubled characters that you will be able to relate to. I only release stories that excite me during the writing process and I hope my readers receive the same excitement and passion for all of my books the same way I did writing them.
What inspires you to write?
I starting writing this series back in 2013. At the time me and my friends were going through a lot and experiencing different things at the same time. So I decided to put our stories into this world and of course make them bigger then what they really were to create one unique story that felt real and that people could relate too and enjoy. If I had to think of something to compare my book to it’s like Empire, Meets Scandal, meets How To Get Away With Murder.
Tell us about your writing process.
Well it depends on what kind of book I’m writting I really don’t outline things. I usually just do all the work in my head as crazy as it sounds. I start off by coming up with some type of story I want to write, then I go into thinking about a plot and how I want it to end. After I start creating character many based on people I know or knew as it’s easier for me to write whoever depending on what the book needs. Then I come up with all the big things I want to happen in my book and then I start writting my book. That’s usually my weird process
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
As I said I usually write my characters with somebody I knew or know in mind. I’m also an actor so I’m very method who ever my main characters are I have to really get inside there head. For me, because I created such flawed characters I’m usually listening to music while I’m writing like Adele, Sad Beyonce Songs, Tamar, Fantasia, etc lol. It’s all about slow sad music while I’m writting.
What advice would you give other writers?
If you love writing and creating stories then do it, but if this isn’t something you enjoy don’t.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I inspired myself I love the world of entertainment and not just writting but Acting, Directing, Singing, and much more this is something I truly love and I want to be paid doing something I love. My advise is to set a game plan and do what your heart truly desires, I don’t know if writing will pay the bills but if it doesn’t I might feel discouraged I won’t lie. But I know it won’t stop me for writing entertaining stories weather it’s for the world or just my friends I want to entertain because I love it.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
As of now because this is my first public book I don’t know what to think but I’m praying and hoping I can make something I love doing a career. I’m already proof reading and touching up book 2 and hopefully I can share that story with the world and the people who’ve read part 1 will want more from me
