About J Dylan Hopkin:
Throughout my life, I always dreamed of becoming an investor. I spent countless hours trying to create businesses or find opportunities that would someday create enough income to make me wealthy. I always believed that, once I accumulated enough income, I could save, invest and, thereafter, have the money to live the life I had always wanted. As the years passed, though, I still hadn’t found success. By the time I hit my thirties, I was living paycheck-to-paycheck and, even worse, I was still somehow borrowing money! This was one of the most depressing times of my life – the idea of becoming an investor had become a childhood dream that needed to be let go. However, life sometimes surprises us in ways we cannot understand. For me, change didn’t happen until an old friend showed me a different way to view wealth. Wealth is not earned by luck or chance and rarely comes in one lump sum. Rather, it takes simple steps developed over time and starts with our personal finances. Now personal finance was the first step on this journey but my journey didn’t end there, once I had a little to invest I set out to become an investor, I believed that I could join some investment clubs and learn investing. Sadly, I had picked the some of the wrong clubs, instead of being welcomed I was mocked, the only investment I had found was peer-to-peer lending which I love, but I soon learned that thinking outside the box was not welcomed and was soon dubbed “The Paycheck Investor” by a broker that was simply trying to sell his products. Since then I have found investments that I love and new ones that I want to aim for which started the next part of this journey and that is the Paycheck Investor theme. The idea behind the paycheck investor was to build a investment community that encouraged ideas rather than mock them. I figure, if I can show you what I have learned, and you show me what you have learned, together we can make the name Paycheck Investor one of knowledge and community. I truly hope you join me on this journey and wish you godspeed.
What inspires you to write?
I wanted to write this book for everyone that has ever walked in my shoes: being a dreamer of great things, but watching our financial lives sink into debt, paycheck-by-paycheck. This book series is not meant to make us rich, but to put us on the path to personal wealth. We can still dream of our grand slams, but if they don’t come, we will be just fine financially.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am a numbers person and am not a person of words, but I had to express my journey. I created the system first and then added to story to follow the steps, which was not very east and I can only hope people feel and understand both.
What advice would you give other writers?
You need other people! Having good editors, proof-readers, and designers might sound easy but, finding good people is very hard.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
This was a self learning process, so I had to go self-publishing. Companies like Create-space can help you so much, they really can make your publishing process so much easier.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Self-publishing is the future, we are in a social-media / information age!
What do you use?: Professional Editor, Professional Cover Designer, Beta Readers
What genres do you write?: Personal Finance, Self-help
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
