Honorée Corder is the author of 20 books, including You Must Write a Book, Vision to Reality, Prosperity for Writers, Business Dating, The Successful Single Mom book series, If Divorce is a Game, These are the Rules, and The Divorced Phoenix. She is also Hal Elrod’s business partner in The Miracle Morning book series. Honorée coaches business professionals, writers, and aspiring non-fiction authors who want to publish their books to bestseller status, create a platform, and develop multiple streams of income. She also does all sorts of other magical things, and her badassery is legendary.
What inspires you to write?
My desire to help others – I take my experiences and then share them in books.
Tell us about your writing process.
For my non-fiction, I start with an idea, then create an outline … then I write for about an hour every day.
For my fiction, I have no process. I’m just now getting started and learning.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write as much as you can, as often as you can. If you desire to write, there is absolutely no reason you should not write.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Self-publishing was the only option I thought was available to me. I didn’t have an advanced education, so I started with self-publishing before it was “cool” and now I wouldn’t have it any other way. Definitely self-publishing is the way to go, unless somehow you can get a 7-figure advance (and even then that still might not be the best option).
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It is so bright, I have to wear shades! Seriously, I think traditional publishing will transform or go away completely. Authors will have to produce high-quality books in order to stay competitive, sell books, and earn a living.
