Holly is the romance author of such titles as Perfectly Hopeless, Wicked Little sins and the Ink Series. She lives in Sylvania, Ohio with her husband, 4 kids and 3 dogs. She is a lover of reality television and good music.
What inspires you to write?
Being able to create a story that someone can relate to and enjoy. I like to write to make others feel something.
Tell us about your writing process.
My writing process is chaotic. I write. I takes days or weeks off. I listen to music while writing. I find images of what I see my characters looking like. I complain about the book not working out. And then I brainstorm with the hubby to get myself going again. And then I curl up in a ball and cry a little because I don’t know what the hell I am doing.I talk myself into quitting and then I realize I am pretty good. And then I write some more. Haha.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I am simply the vessel used to get their stories out. Sometimes an evil vessel that wants to torture them.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t compare yourself to others. Be you. Do you. Don’t be afraid to take that leap and try something different if that’s what you want to do.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I am not really sure. Twilight was big when I started, I used to write books when I was a kid. I finally made it to a point in parenthood where I had some free time so I said, “what the hell?” I thought long and hard on a forbidden love idea that wasn’t played out and I started writing the Wingless series. And I never imagined anyone would read it other than my mom. She read it and loved it and I was like, “Really?” And that’s how it began.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think the sky is the limit. I am so happy that so many different avenues are opening up for all types of writers.
