What inspires you to write?
My Life and the things i have faced. I have been rejected most of my life, have to deal with low self-esteem, made a lot of mistakes, failed many times to the point I thought I was a failure among many things that far years I lived a defeated life- I had a lot of baggages that was suffocating me.
Not only my life but when I look around and see the things people face, their challenges, setbacks and that many of them are living defeated lives instead of being overcomers. I set out to write to motivate or inspire people. To help my readers to live the life they were intended to live, as God meant for them to live
Tell us about your writing process.
I write when I feel inspire, I cannot write if I don’t feel what I am writing. If I attempt to write and don’t feel the words, I will not produce my best work. Therefore I don’t have any set time to write. When I feel it, I write. I just write, I don’t write according to the chapter I am writing but I may start a chapter today and then tomorrow I am writing something different or a part of another chapter, it is base on how I am feeling at the time.
That makes me kinda messy writer. But at the end of the day when everything is put together, it is a masterpiece. And that is basically life, our lives are at times messy, but when everything comes together it is a masterpiece
What advice would you give other writers?
Just write! You may not know where you are going to fit a particular part but just get it down. In the end your book will thank you for it.
I would also like to tell writers, do not be discourage when things don’t go as you hope, life has its ups and downs but just keep going, don’t stop
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I chose to self-publish An Empowered Life with Amazon and Smashwords because they both gives me the freedom I need eg. If I realise a mistake with manuscript or cover i can easily upload a new one without going through a publisher.
Self-publishing also allows me to change prices whenever i choose. The choice came to self-publish after I had a bad experience with a certain publisher that I had used to publish An Empowered Life. The experience was that I wanted to do book promotion, play around with prices as I see fit but they didn’t allow this and I didn’t have enough control or say over my own book. I also found out that if I wanted to republish it (after realising there was some errors in the book) I had to pay the same price I paid to publish the book in the first place. Self-publishing with Amazon and Smashwords seems like a better option for me.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think the future of publishing will have some challenges in terms of weeding out books that are of bad quality. Self-publishing through Amazon has given any one who have a book idea to be able to publish their own books, but it has also caused an influx of books that shouldn’t be publish in the first place. Therefore companies like Amazon will have to find away to weed out these books, and do so quickly.
But overall I think the future of publishing is very good as more persons realise that they can actually get their books publish. Traditionally publishers will have to find ways to attrack new authors as the authors as waiting for 1 year to know if your book is accepted is very discouraging
