What inspires you to write?
Elaine’s Philosophy
Sexy, vibrant, sexual, grown women! These women are classy, tasteful, poised, confident, mature, and experienced in the art of sexual satisfaction; both for themselves and their partner. Life is not over at 40 or 50 or even 60! Being old is a state of mind being bold is also a state of mind.
I wrote the Tatiana series with the over 40 woman in mind. She’s creative and brings her years of experience to the bedroom (or the living room sofa.) She knows her body and how it will respond but most of all, she knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it.
Many of the books out there often forget about women 40-60 who are still vibrant, sexy, sexual beings. So what if society wants to call this group cougars because the only men able to satisfy them are younger. It’s a label to which I aspire! Experience Tatiana’s Chance from my point of view.
Tell us about your writing process.
I tried outlining when I first started writing. I thought that is what I was supposed to do. I fought and I cussed and I forced myself until I flipped out and decided that I would just have to be a rebel and let my work flow. I’m the same way in the rest of my life, I just have to be unstructured. Too much structure makes me buck and blocks my writing.
On the other hand, sometimes going with the flow when the flow is not flowing can be a little frustrating. But for the most part, unstructured is what I’m all about!
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I must listen to my characters because it’s their story I’m telling! Usually, when I’m stuck or can’t figure out what’s next, it’s because I’m not in tune with the characters or their situations and I have to dig deeper to get “on the same page.”
What advice would you give other writers?
If you have a story to write, then just write. Don’t get bogged down with “how” to go about it. Just do it. And when the story is over, they will tell you. So, until they tell you, just write.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
This is a matter of individual choice. I chose to go with a publisher because I was unsure of a lot of the industry standards and because I work full time, I didn’t trust myself to be able to answer all my own questions fully. I put my trust in a new publisher who is just as hungry to make a name in the publishing industry as I am in making a name for myself as an author.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I believe the publishing industry is changing very rapidly. Authors and publishers are moving within the industry and wearing many hats as they take on additional skills and jobs.
