About Donna Markiewicz:
I am a writer, a blogger and an entrepreneur. I also like to design WordPress sites. I studied at the Art Institute at Pittsburgh Online for a degree in Interactive Media and then later at the International Academy of Design and Technology Online for a degree in Web Development. I am a computer geek who loves how to books and historical time travel novels that start in the past and wind up in the present.
I have now entered the exciting world of self-publishing by releasing my first book. It is a very personal story that was difficult for me to write. I think it is wonderful that everyone has an opportunity to get their work out there because of the ability to self-publish. I have several more books planned for the near future. So be sure to watch for new listings.
What inspires you to write?
I think that my main inspiration is the fact that I have something to say and writing, and self-publishing, gives me the voice and the opportunity to do it.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am definitely an out-liner. I can’t write without an outline. I first have a process where I get ideas and just jot down words or phrases. Then I go to the outline stage and try to plug those words or phrases into it where ever I think they would fit best.
What advice would you give other writers?
No matter how hard it gets, don’t give up. If you get writers block, or you feel that your books just aren’t selling – don’t give up!
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Well, first off I felt that I had things to say. Then second I took a course on Udemy called How To Become a Bestselling Author on Amazon Kindle by Tom Corson-Knowles and really sparked my interest in writing eBooks. I haven’t become a best selling author yet, but I continue to work at it everyday and that is what really counts, I think. I find it very thrilling to go on Amazon and see my book for sale there.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think that self-publishing is the future. It evens the playing field so that everyone has an opportunity to write without the fear of being rejected by publishers.
