Devin O’Branagan weaves tales of uncommon heroes.
Devin’s genres include paranormal thrillers, young adult urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and romantic comedy. Her books have been published by Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books, German publisher Heyne Verlag, Turkish publisher Dogan Egmont, and indie publisher Cornucopia Creations. She writes for Paranormal Galaxy Magazine and TAILS Magazine, is a member of the Dog Writers Association of America, the Cat Writers’ Association, and many of her writing projects support animal rescue.
Her books are available in print, eBook, and audio formats.
What inspires you to write?
I have been writing stories since I was five years old. I was born to write.
Tell us about your writing process.
I visualize my novels as movies. I write a threadbare outline of major scenes from beginning to end.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Oh, yes. My character are real.
What advice would you give other writers?
Read, write, ask for feedback, learn from criticism. Then write some more.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I am what is known in the new world of publishing as a hybrid author. I’ve been published both traditionally and as an indie. I think authors should try all avenues and go with what works for them.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I don’t think traditional publishers will ever disappear, but they must change with the times. I also fear that print books are going to become rare. eBooks and audio books are the wave of the future.
