About Dana Lynn Andrews:
As a kid, Dana L. Andrews loved to trek the short distance to the library. She would drag her little sister with her. Reading was her favorite thing to do. The books she read invoked many adventures. Her sister and brother sometimes tired of these adventures, but Dana kept the make believe going. She always dreamt of writing stories to help other children develop a love of reading.
Many, many years later, Dana’s dream of writing children’s books has become a reality. This is just the beginning of more to come. Visit WRIXX.com to see what’s coming next.
What inspires you to write?
I have always loved reading from a young girl. Immersing myself into the story I read ignited my desire to write. However, I never completed what I began. Just recently I took a class on Children’s Literature. My Professor inspired me to finally accomplish what I dreamed of so many years ago.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
J. R. Tolkien, Jane Austen, Veronica Roth
Tell us about your writing process.
The composition book is my primary tool for writing. I write things down as I think about them. There many scribbles before the final idea is completed.
What advice would you give other writers?
Never give up on your dream to write. It has taken me many years to finally complete my endeavor.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided to self publish. Self-Publishing provides more control. However, does entail more work. You will be in charge of marketing and it can be daunting, but perseverance can be very rewarding. I would say compare your options. There are some ways to self publish through various companies for example, Author House, Wasteland Press., etc.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Many feel that ebooks would be the death of printed books, yet printed books are still thriving. I prefer having an actual book so that I can feel and turn the pages.
I believe book publishing will remain a constant of society.
