D.J. Wilson is a free lance writer, romance / adventure author and blogger, featured on many sites, including the Huffington Post.
At present, his writings blend true life stories and real locations with just enough fiction to keep his readers guessing as to what is real and what is not. “Did that really happen?” is a common question that is asked of him over and over by his readers.
In the last 18 months, along with his recurring blogs, he has written and published Ride To Redemption and the sequel, Ride To Restoration. His third novel, Ride To Retribution, is in the works.

What inspires you to write?
My whole life thus far is a book still being written. What better reference than your own life, both the good and the bad. I’ve been blessed to travel to many locales. I’ve loved and lost far too many times. I’ve been called both an outstanding success, as well as, a catastrophic failure. That being said, when I write action / adventure / romance, I am able to draw from deep within. Thus, my writings are sprinkled with much more truths than fiction. Stories conveying with passion that you’ve surely been there, done that and have the life changing scars to prove it.
Tell us about your writing process.
My writing style is outside the norm, I suppose. I find a serene place with an ever-changing landscape and lose myself for days at a time. Hours long walks with the dog break up the pace and allow me to relive the scenes burned in my mind. Conflicts and resolutions, ebb and flow, mile after mile until I’m comfortable enough to transfer it to the page.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I’ve been known to write in two fonts. (My publisher hates this.) By separating the primary characters this way, I develop each thought process of my characters as I go.
What advice would you give other writers?
Anything is possible. Just be passionate about what you’re writing and it will capture the readers attention.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Small publishers are much more receptive to Indy authors. To insure you’re not wasting their time, make sure you’ve invested in a good editor on the front end. That will carry you farther than you could ever hope or imagine.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Amazon is such a major player in the book world. Anyone can test their market, long before they ever bring it to print.
