What inspires you to write?
I read alot as a kid and as I got older I decided I wanted to emulate some of my favorite writers. I’ve always loved creating worlds and characters.
Tell us about your writing process.
I usually write on a legal pad as a first draft and then put it into the computer later. These days I use a simple outline and make sure I have a character bible if I’m going to get knee deep in a series.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Mostly listen. My characters usually set the scene and I follow. Sometimes they take me places unexpected.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write what you love. Don’t follow the trends. Blaze your own trail.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I started out traditional. Tried self-publishing when it was still taboo and went back to self-publishing when I wanted to do something specific with my books that I didn’t see a publishing house taking on and doing the way I wanted it done.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think books are here to stay. And in my opinion it will be a nice combination of print and ebook. Big chains may get shaken up with mom and pop stores taking the lead. And the large conglomerate publishing houses will start seeking out best sellers instead of the other way around.
What do you use?
What genres do you write?
fantasy, thrillers, mainstream, literary, action, horror
What formats are your books in?
Both eBook and Print
