About Cyndi Raye:
I love spending time in Key West and the Florida Keys. It’s like being in the Caribbean without a passport. When I came home from my first vacation there, I had to put pen to paper with exciting and romantic stories. The fictional stories I write about all have happy endings but the journey they take has its ups and downs. I write contemporary romance and sometimes suspense if a secret agent happens to show up in the middle of things.
I love to create a world where everyone is family, even if it isn’t by blood, but from friendships, heartaches and sometimes just mistakes that are made right again.
What inspires you to write?
I’ve always loved writing, from the time I was a kid writing poems to now. I went through a period when I didn’t write after being rejected by major publishers. When Amazon came along and self-publishing made the life of writers easier to get books published, I started writing again.
Tell us about your writing process.
I write by the seat of my pants. Sometimes I don’t even know where the story is taking me, or, I am thinking a scene will end a certain way and then something happens without my knowledge. Haha, you know what I mean.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
My characters really do become a part of me while writing the story. I’m not sure how to even explain but it just happens.
What advice would you give other writers?
My advice to other writers is write, edit, publish and do it over and over again and again. You really do learn as you go. There are a million self-help writing books but when you write and keep writing, your skill gets better and better.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
It was self-publish all the way. I saw how other indie writers were doing well and decided to give it a try. I never looked back.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I don’t know. I think there is room for everyone. Readers will always read. I love the digital age but every now and again, I love to hold a book in my hand and turn the pages. I hope they both stay as vibrant as they are today.
