About Christopher C. Meeker:
Christopher C. Meeker is a writer, husband, and father of three based in beautiful Central New York where he enjoys the experiences of each new season, especially fall and winter.
After graduating high school Christopher attended Onondaga Community College and the Onondaga Cortland Madison County Career Training Center where he received his certification in Electro-Mechanical Drafting and CAD. He has also earned numerous certificates in the field of information technology. But Christopher’s true passions are languages and the written word.
When Christopher isn’t busy working on his next novel he likes to relax by watching movies (science fiction and fantasy mostly), reading, or playing video games, an activity which has garnered him several world records.
What inspires you to write?
I love to entertain, especially through the telling of fantastic tales. When readers tell me that they really love my stories I feel very happy and fulfilled. I think this is what ultimately inspires me to write.
Tell us about your writing process.
I have a very, to the best of my knowledge, unique writing process in that I never start a book until I have the very first scene of the book and the very last. I use those two points as references and then fill in the missing gaps in the story. I frequently do character outlines to help flesh out everyone that I plan on including in the book but, by-and-large, the opening scene and ending scene are the two most important components for me.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I mostly just listen to my characters along the way and simply write what they tell me to. On occasion however I do talk to them but only if they stop talking to me and I feel that I need to coax the story out of them.
What advice would you give other writers?
Two words; just write.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided early on that I wanted to self publish. For me the decision was an easy one as I wanted to keep control of my rights. In addition I enjoy the creative process and wanted to be involved with that from beginning to end. I enjoyed the process for the most part and it was a very positive experience.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
This is a tough question because I think it’s hard to envision what book publishing is going to become in the future. It’s changing constantly to be sure but where it ends up I wouldn’t dare speculate at this point. However, I think that the direction book publishing is heading is a mostly positive one.
