About Chastity C Sonier:
I am a native Houstonian who loves living life to the fullest. I appreciate the air that God gives me each day I open my eyes. If there are three words that describes me it would be loyal, tenacious, and God-fearing. I love bringing out the BOSS that is within a person as well as embracing and igniting a fire that helps them to excel in their area of expertise. I love to see people smile and penetrate positive energy among their environments. I love to travel and explore all that life has to offer.
As a young lady in Corporate America I have risen to all challenges that have come my way. As of today, I have 16 years’ experience in the insurance industry; 10 years as a Senior Underwriter and the past six years as a Broker. I am the Co-Owner of RBC Consulting Firm, LLC dba Sapphire Services. I am the Vice President of Operations for The RestoreHER Movement, and I am the Founder and President of Sisters in Christ which I have led for 20 years.
My goal is to surround my mind as well as my energy towards peaceful things. I am currently writing a book called “The Raw Hidden Process”, building my management consulting firm, and creating a non-profit organization. The best thing about me is that I love being a wife and mother. My family is my priority. Making sure my home is together is important and being able to be that fragrance that my family needs in order to embrace success or obstacles within our daily lives. Knowing that I am that glue that holds them together means everything to me as a woman. In addition, making sure I stay true to my heart desires by continuing to develop and empower my entrepreneur skills. Self-love and family (among other things) are the elements that develops me into a lady, a woman, and as an individual. This is only a snapshot of me…from the song of the late B.B. King “to know you, is to love you, but to know me, is not that way you see.” A bio cannot paint the picture of the true essence of me, but once we emerge, then you will see.
What inspires you to write?
What inspires me to write is that writing allows me to stand in my truth about my life experiences as well as reflect on different situations.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
My favorite authors are James Baldwin and Sister Souljah.
Tell us about your writing process.
My writing is pretty simple.
1. I like writing at nighttime.
2. I like it to be dark with my ring light.
3. I like good music to be playing.
These three things allow me to tune out the world and focus on my truth and my freedom.
What advice would you give other writers?
My advice that I would give to a writer working on their book is to be transparent about your topic and know that this is a platform that you can allow yourself to be authentic to your audience, but also to yourself. Allow this journey to be a self-reflection and self-awareness of your life and how you want to position yourself in the present moment.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I looked at both options and I am open to working with a publishing company as well as doing self-publishing. The reason I went with a publishing company is to learn the ins and outs regarding the industry, especially since this is my first book. Learning and understanding the process is very important to me.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Right now, I am learning the business. I am open to exploring different black publishing company as well as self-publishing on my own. But it has to be the right fit for the project.
What genres do you write?: Nonfiction
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
