About Charlotte George:
I am a busy mum who found that sitting down with her children and colouring with them was therapeutic and enjoyable. I decided to put together some of my favourite themes including mandalas in a series of colouring books so that me and the children always have something new to colour.
I have always loved mandalas because they are so versatile, as well as hugely satisfying. Every one can be different if colours are changed so the first colouring books I made were all about mandals.
I am currently devising many more colouring books, on various themes which will keep me, my children and my friends and followers happy for a long time to come, so just enjoy.
What inspires you to write?
I just love making the patterns and specially the mandals. I find this process very satisfying and exciting because I never know what each pattern will turn out like until finished. The series of books I have compiled are hugely popular with my friends and family which has inspired me to carry on doing them.
Tell us about your writing process.
I tend to just sit down and create patterns at any time of the day, usually when I have a quiet period or in the evening. I start with a basic pattern and see where the mood or the software takes me.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t give up, even if you only sell a couple of books a day to start, if you have good books they will sell. Try to learn as much as you can about everything to do with publishing. There are no short cuts, buy courses carefully and don’t over buy. Perseverance and faith in yourself will get you there in the end.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I published first on Amazon and then put them into paperback with Createspace. The whole process is really easy once you have done it a couple of times. My paperbacks far outsell my e-books and both are doing well. Find a good course on formatting and publishing to Createspace. I used 5-minute Publishing by Wesley Atkins and would highly recommend his products.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Books appear to making a comeback over ebooks and there is a place for both.
