About carmen andersen:
Carmen Andersen is the founder of CSB Innovations and the creator of Theatre Books, a new and innovative way to illustrate children’s books. “For every crazy idea my family wished I had never had,” reads the dedication written on CSB’s first book. Carmen has always had the spirit of an entrepreneur, and this idea is just one of many. “What if” and “wouldn’t it be cool if” are common phrases for her. It took 40 years for one of those “What if’s” to come to life. Inspired and led by God Carmen has forged a path for herself and others to publish children’s books in a truly unique way. For Twenty Three years Carmen has been a dedicated mother, and wife. As a young mother she inspired her children to dream and to always ask for more out of life than what they were given. In her professional carrier she has focused primarily in the Accounting and Business Management field. She uses this experience in the development of CSB, however she believes that it takes more than just business sense for a company to be successful. She often reflects on her first published poem “Life is a Dream” and the new hope and direction this accomplishment made for her. She hopes that through CSB programs she will be able to pass that on to other children.
What inspires you to write?
In a world where nothing is left to the imagination, and everything is made available with a simple click of a button or touch of a screen. My desire as an author is to rekindle the imagination and inspire others to do the same.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am an "outliner". I make spreadsheets and linear visuals to help me keep things in order. The character descriptions are such a large part of my process that it usually comes well before the main body of the story is completed.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
No, mostly I just visualize them interacting in the world I created.
What advice would you give other writers?
Nike said it best… "Just do it!" Don't waste time thinking about, or waiting for the right moment. Now is the time and you need to just get it done.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I chose to create my own publishing company to not only publish my book, but to also give others the opportunity to have an accessible alternative to have their works published as well.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
As authors and illustrators we need to engage in modern technology so we can stay relevant and in touch with an ever more technological world.
What do you use?: None of the above 🙂
What genres do you write?: Children's
What formats are your books in?: Print
