About Bjørn Schindler:
The inspiration for writing this book came from my life and experiences. Born in 1984, I embarked on a journey filled with contrasting life experiences, blending the rigorous discipline of the military with the fast-paced world of corporate life. Despite being educated in two different fields of study, I developed an unwavering work ethic that allowed me to rise to the heights of success as an entrepreneur.
However, beneath the surface of financial achievements and a thriving career, there was an emptiness gnawing at my soul. My relentless pursuit of material wealth left a void that neither money nor corporate success could fill. It was only when I began to reflect that I realized what was missing: the beauty and richness of nature.
What inspires you to write?
This profound realization prompted me to make a drastic change in direction. Abandoning the demands of my previous lifestyle, I embraced a quieter existence, in which I found joy and fulfillment in writing and a close connection with nature. This combination not only healed the emptiness I once felt but also inspired my creative aspirations, transforming me into a voice that resonates with those seeking authenticity and harmony with the natural world.
My writings bear witness to my transformative journey and extend an invitation to others to explore less trodden paths. I aim to share my experiences and insights to help others find their own balance and inspiration in the beauty that surrounds us. My story stands as evidence that finding the purpose of life doesn't always involve conventional success but often requires the courage to pause and listen to what truly speaks to our hearts.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
Arthura C. Clarke
Tell us about your writing process.
The magic of my books unfolds under the cover of night or in the embrace of the great outdoors. The Norwegian fjords, with their serene beauty, possess the remarkable ability to wash away my worries and unlock the doors of creativity within my mind. As I embark on my writing journey, I'm accompanied by the gentle whispers of nature's symphony.
In crafting my tales, I find solace in the glow of my faithful companion, the MacBook Pro, which faithfully transforms my thoughts into words. The Pages program becomes my artistic canvas, where imagination takes flight and ideas dance upon the digital parchment. With each keystroke, the symphony of creativity and the serenity of the fjords merge into a harmonious melody that carries me along the river of inspiration.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Absolutely, engaging with my characters is an integral part of my writing process. As a fiction writer, I view my characters as living entities with distinct personalities, motivations, and voices. It's not uncommon for me to have conversations with them, both in my mind and sometimes even aloud. This practice might seem a bit unconventional, but it's incredibly effective for developing authentic characters and driving the narrative forward.
Listening to my characters allows me to better understand their perspectives, quirks, and emotions. It's almost like stepping into their shoes, seeing the world through their eyes. By doing so, I can create more nuanced and relatable characters, which ultimately leads to a more immersive reading experience. Sometimes, characters surprise me with unexpected decisions or actions, adding depth and unpredictability to the storyline.
These interactions also help me solve narrative challenges. If I'm stuck at a crossroads or unsure about the direction of the plot, having a dialogue with my characters often provides insights into what feels right for the story. They become collaborators, guiding me towards creative solutions that align with their personalities and the overarching narrative.
While it might sound like a solitary endeavor, conversing with my characters sparks a dynamic and collaborative relationship that shapes the heart of my storytelling. So, to fellow fiction writers, I encourage you to embrace this approach – let your characters speak, and you'll find that they have a lot to share, enriching both your writing process and the final product.
What advice would you give other writers?
For aspiring authors, I have a message: don't hesitate to publish even your wildest creations. Sometimes, it's in the realm of the unconventional that true magic lies. Embrace the uncharted territories of your imagination, for it's often in the unexplored that the most original stories take shape. Remember, some of the greatest literary masterpieces emerged from what might have seemed like madness at first.
Allow your creativity to soar, unburdened by self-doubt. The beauty of writing is that it's a journey where your imagination knows no bounds. Embrace your quirks, oddities, and unique perspectives, for these are the elements that will set your work apart. Every author, no matter how renowned, began with the daring to share their voice.
So, cast aside the fear of judgment and let your words flow freely. In your "crazy" ideas, you might discover the seeds of brilliance that captivate readers and leave a lasting impact. Remember, it's often the unconventional that has the power to change the world. Embrace your writing madness, for therein lies the enchantment that can capture hearts and minds in ways you never imagined possible.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
"The Berserker's Gardens and Forests" was released with the help of people, just like "Escape the Matrix: A Guide to Living Free in a System-Driven World." The first of these books is an attempt to showcase the wonderful gifts our planet bestows upon us each summer. I cherish herbalism and from personal experience, I know the power certain herbs hold for our well-being. This book is my manifesto for our planet.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
The magic of a book lies in its paper version; ebooks will never replace the style, atmosphere, and eagerness to explore the next paper chapter.
What genres do you write?: Nonfiction, Fiction, Guids
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
