About Anita Job:
Anita Job is a millennial focused on helping her friends find fulfillment in their professional lives. After successfully transitioning into a lifestyle and work she enjoys, Anita found she could assist others in bringing clarity as they considered all the factors that bring about career success and satisfaction. Her question-centric writing style comes from her work experience as a facilitator, resulting in an engaging reader experience. Personal stories integrated into the book offer a practical guide to what might assist others as they explore their employment options.
When Anita is not writing or promoting her book, you’ll find her volunteering, learning, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoys traveling and trying new things, especially new recipes! In the summertime, you’ll find her conquering the next mountain peak or paddling a lake in her kayak. In the winter, she enjoys watching hockey and curling up on the couch with a good book.
What inspires you to write?
For this particular topic, I like knowing I can assist my friends in finding work faster than if they were to try on their own. I found I had many friends asking how I had navigated my previous work transitions when they lost their jobs during the pandemic. Or, they were graduating from university and looking for full-time work rather than summer jobs for the first time, and while conversations were great, writing down what I had learned helped me remember to share all the suggestions with every person.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
Daniel Pink, Malcolm Gladwell, John Maxwell, Brene Brown, etc.
Tell us about your writing process.
My writing is question-centric which is inspired by my time as a facilitator and originally started out as a series of blog posts. The best questions cause me to think and allow me to reach a unique answer that fits me. The stories or comments below the questions are meant to act as a guide as to how to think about the question. However, they can also be approached from an angle I didn't write about. These questions can be a way to focus and work through topics other than career changes as well. I picked a few topics and then wrote questions for each topic in an unorganized manner to bring variety to the blog posts.
What advice would you give other writers?
I feel like I'm still new at this, but I would say keep learning, keep writing, and keep marketing your work when it's finished. Persistence will pay off.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I chose to self-publish because it seemed like the best option for a limited budget, and I wasn't sure if my unique writing style or topic would be able to sell well.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think it's great that the barrier to entry is low for those who want to write and who don't have connections in the traditional publishing world yet! AI will never replace an author's unique perspective and experience.
