What inspires you to write?
Reading inspires me to write from the heart 🙂 And Hallmark movies!
Tell us about your writing process.
It starts with one word or one picture…then it leads into the title or the place where a story will take place. From there I create the characters and their story. Sometimes I start in the middle…in the thick of the story then work my way forwards and backwards. Yep! Sometimes I'm all over the map so more of a seat of the pants gal lol That's what makes it fun!
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
My characters become a part of family. I listen to them tell their story so I can share it with my readers. When I say I listen to the voices in my head…my daughter says 'please, mom, add to that sentence that you're a writer' lol And, yes, I talk to them throughout the entire writing of their story. It's always a bittersweet moment when I write the last word..yay! I love this story! and I'm going to miss these people!
What advice would you give other writers?
Write from the heart…edit later. And never stop doing what you love to do and continue to connect with those who love to read and write 🙂
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I've self-published and published with a small traditional publisher.
I self-published two books that were written for contests/challenges. It was a learning experience and exciting!
All my other works are published with a traditional publisher I love! For me, my preference is to have the editor, cover designer, formatter, etc…all under one roof then I can just write!
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
The future I'm sure will bring many changes we'll have to learn and experience. There will always be change, pros and cons, but we work with what we have because we love to write.
What genres do you write?: Romance – Contemporary and Suspense
