About Angel Hammer:
I am a stay at home mother to a beautiful son, and a devoted wife. I love my life and I try to live it fully and without regret. I love to read, write and paint. I also read tarot and auras, I’m a life coach and I interpret dreams for fun. You could say i’m a busy girl! I am a huge believer in The Law of Attraction. Like attracts like, we are all an extension of source energy. Vibrational beings, in a vibrational universe. I write in every genre, including non-fiction and I have many projects going so keep eyes peeled! I wish you love and light on your paths.
What inspires you to write?
I never look for inspiration, ideas pop into my mind and they become books, paintings, short stories or poems. They are like living organisms, they have their own agendas.
Tell us about your writing process.
I have many tools that I use, I love OneDrive and I also use Penzu quite a lot. There is no planning, no outline. Typically an idea will present itself to me in a full form. Therefore much tweaking isn’t really required. The only thing I have to do is decide to write a novel or a short story and find the time to write it. (My one year old son is always first priority!). Also don’t expect my books to be 100% grammatically correct. I KNOW IT’S BLASPHEMY. For me it’s about the story and getting it out there. Yes, you will be able to read my books, I’m not a bumpkin. It’s just not going to be perfect, hey at least you know what to expect. That being said, I love Paperrater as well.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I don’t give out my secret recipe ;), no i’m just kidding. It’s really very dependent upon what genre I happen to be writing in at the time. My process flows organically so I try to not question it. If it’s not broke don’t fix it right?
What advice would you give other writers?
Writing is not for everyone! If you don’t enjoy your writing then you will not be successful at it, and that’s okay! Life is too short to do things you don’t enjoy, PERIOD. Make sure that if it’s something you really want to do you write, write, write. Never be afraid to improve your skills, I am always taking classes and workshops and there is no shame in honing your craft. We are humans, we are not perfect and sometimes you need practice! Don’t expect to get rich off of your books right away, I personally write for the enjoyment of it. I love the thought of creating a world where I control every aspect as far as fiction goes. I also write non-fiction on subjects that I am passionate about to educate the masses on my point of view.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I am always exploring new options. I am in the works to record audiobook versions of my short stories, I am also looking into print. As far as what I currently have published, I’m still a bit of a noob. I’ve only tried out ebooks, but as far as that goes, I love KDP and Smashwords. Ebooks are great because you can publish free and start getting your work out to the masses right away! I love the rush I get off of publishing a new book.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Ebooks are great, but you can never beat reading a physical book. The experience of curling up with it on a cold or rainy day, sipping some coffee and immersing yourself in that world. My favorite part of the experience has to be the smell of the pages. Old books contain a bit of vanilla in their pages, when the pages get old it starts to break down. That’s where the awesome smell comes from! 😉
