What inspires you to write?
Mostly the need to be creative. I have so many creative ideas that flow through my brain that I literally can not create enough! Once I get a tickle or a hint of a project or story it’s like an obsession with me. I am just not satisfied until I can either perfect a project or finish a story. My youngest daughter teases me by asking me why I can’t just find one hobby and stick with it.
Tell us about your writing process.
It truly depends on what I am working on. If it is poetry then it is definitely a seat of my pants situation, however I have written two of my works as a seat the pants author and as for the third I took the time to outline the story first. I have another book I have been working on for nearly 12 years that is definitely outlined due to the story plot being so huge that I have to keep track of the made up fantastical creatures and characters or I would keep back tracking to keep them all straight.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
As of right now I am some what reliving nightmares from my child hood that stood out and well I know my sisters pretty well so I write them as I see them, strong and independent women who will arise to the occasion when called upon. I tread the line of make believe and real life.
What advice would you give other writers?
I would say go for it, you will never know until you try! If even you go the self publishing route, then you have made a lasting memory on this world and that is all we can really strive for in this lifetime.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I self publish, however I have tried to go the traditional route in finding an agent or a publisher ( I haven’t gotten there yet).
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
With people able to self publish for free, I think that the traditional publishing houses are going to have to start taking Indie authors a bit more serious. With self publishing there is no waiting around with anxiety to find out if some big outfit likes you enough to take you on. There is literally instant gratification with self publishing, however you have to be very committed to go it on your own. You have to promote your work daily, all day to get the kind of sales you would most likely get if you have the patience of Jobe and play the waiting game with traditional publishers.
What genres do you write?: fiction, horror, suspense, paranormal young adult fantasy, pretty much whatever pops into my head at the time.
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
