Author Bio:
Amber Silvia was born and raised in a small, suburban town in Maine. She started writing at the age of 15 and had the chance to independently publish later on in her young adult life. She is currently working on a trilogy, as well as smaller projects.
What inspires you to write?
I liked the aspect of escapism it brought and making something out of essentially nothing–a tiny thought. I started at a very young age and it just gradually latched onto me. When people in my life commented that I had a knack for it, I continued.
Tell us about your writing process.
It almost always starts with a small plot line or idea. I write it down, give it time and let the characters write themselves. I never force it, that makes for bad writing, in my opinion. Usually, I open up a document on my computer and quickly jot down the major plot points, twists and cliffhangers I want to create. The characters usually follow and that is where the bios come in, which is tough because sometimes all of the characters stick around and sometimes I have to trash the idea. After that entire web is created, I take detailed notes on what will be happening in each chapter. The rest is history.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I imagine that I’m right there with them, having a cup of coffee.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t give up and don’t stop in the middle of a project.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I didn’t want to reach out to any publishers in the beginning. I wanted to do the entire bit by myself. Still do. I was browsing around Amazon one morning and I found Kindle Direct Publishing. The whole process just fell into my lap and I was extremely grateful. After I started publishing on Amazon, I received an email about publishing paperbacks through CreateSpace. I jumped right onto that opportunity and here I am now.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I have dozens of ideas to share. I can positively say that writing and publishing books is what I will be doing in the future.
What genres do you write?
Fiction, Mystery, Suspense, Horror, Drama, Crime
What formats are your books in?
Both eBook and Print
