About Alan Taffel:
Alan Taffel is a TV writer/producer/director, the winner of an Emmy and multiple CableAce awards, a guitarist who will never play like Eric Clapton, and an avid golfer who has never hit a hole-in-one or shot a game under par. Alan lives with his wife Caryn in South Florida.
What inspires you to write?
I write to maintain my sanity.
After years of writing TV scripts for clients, the whole process became wearisome. Too many cooks. Too collaborative. So I decided to concentrate on writing, not for clients, for me… and my readers.
Tell us about your writing process.
I have written with an outline and a series of graphs and charts but choose not to do that. I prefer to just formulate an idea and see where that leads.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I like the characters to do their own talking. It’s always fun and exciting to see where that leads.
What advice would you give other writers?
Break all the rules.
Write every day.
Don’t edit until you’re finished.
Learn to deal with rejection.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I partnered with an indie publisher. Since we were both new at it we figured we’d learn together.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Books will always be with us.
What genres do you write?: Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, Humor
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
