About AJ Eversley:
AJ Eversley is the author of the WATCHER Series. A true north Canadian girl, AJ currently lives in Central Alberta with her husband and dog. When she’s not writing, she can be found binge watching Harry Potter, quoting various movies in every day conversation, and eating copious amounts of candy.
What inspires you to write?
Creating new worlds and imagery is what inspires me. The idea that you can be sitting anywhere reading and your mind will take you to an entire new place that is different for each person reading the same book! Its an amazing feeling to be creative.
Tell us about your writing process.
I tend to be a "pantser" writer, meaning I don't do strict plot lines and plan it all out first. I may have a general idea, but for the most part I let the characters choose where the story goes, and because of that I am often shocked by the end result just as much as the reader is!
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I defiantly listen to my characters. I sometimes find my self saying "why would you go and do that?" to which my characters respond, "chill AJ, I've got us covered!" and then without fail they do something crazy and amazing and make me eat up my own words!
What advice would you give other writers?
I always tell other authors to just write! Write what you love, write what you want to read, and write what makes you feel (happy, sad, confused, silly..). Don't let critiques stop you from following your dream, no matter how large it may seem. The bigger the better!
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided to self-publish mostly because I wanted to have control over certain things (like final plot likes, cover art…etc) and it felt like a natural way to go for me. I am also a fairly out going person (for a writer anyways) and felt I could manage self promotions well enough.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think the limits are endless. I think we are already seeing more indie/self-published authors and that is becoming the norm more than going traditional. I expect we'll continue to see that grow!
