How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
I think I can use my imagination a little more. When writing a children’s book, I can do just about anything and make it believeable
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
The process takes a long time. You have to be patient, very patient. There are so many new books it’s difficult to get noticed.
Author Bio:
We began writing our first children’s book in 2010. Cathy and I would often sit outside watching and feeding the birds. The birds were very clever and fun to watch, especially when the smaller birds kicked seed to the ground for the larger birds. It seemed the birds had some group structure and displayed very effective teamwork. We thought it would be interesting to write a book about a group of birds flying south for the winter.
Publishing our first book was only a dream. The finished book sat on our computer hard drive for over a year before being convinced to self-publish. Self-publishing Robby’s Quest for Seed was a difficult decision; however, the birth of our grandson Rylie gave us some added incentive to get the book out there. We decided to dedicate the first book to Rylie. We also thought it would be nice to leave something behind for our children and their children.
Since writing and publishing Robby’s Quest for Seed in 2012, we have published two additional books in the series, Robby’s Quest: Ocean Bound and Robby’s Quest: Return of the Cat. Robby’s Quest: Thrills and Chills is the fourth book in the children’s book series.
Cathy and Don currently live in Arizona with their cats, Nomi and Hershey. Cathy is a homemaker and Don is a retired Manufacturing Manager and former Elementary School Governing Board Member.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?Love of animals. We wrote four books about birds and their adventures traveling across the U.S. and we decided to write about Hershey, the bully cat from our first series.
