Hits are always hiding out all over the world. Savvy musicians, songwriters and producers are always on the lookout for them.
Now, I’m not a guru – but I can tell you for free that there are many things that go into making any song a commercial success. And many more factors that go into play to create a hit song.
Every singer, musician, producer, record label, publisher, even yes – Song Plugger – will tell you that great lyrics go a long way to make a song a big success.
Ever wondered why Bruce Springsteen, Diane Warren, Gary Nicholson, Taylor Swift, Craig Wiseman, Leann Rimes, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Jeffery Steele, Rachel Proctor, Lee Brice, Babyface, Faith Hill, etc – seem to get it right with every song they write (or co-write)?
The secret, I’ll tell you for sure, is in the words. The lyrics! They make every word, phrase or sentence – count. This done, the difficult part is almost always sorted out.
Ask yourself, why does the beauty in their songwriting create such a huge effect? What’s it that they do that you’re not doing? What are those amazing little secrets about their songwriting skills that you seem not to get right? From the choice of words to how the sentences flow; from the imagery in their songs to their storytelling abilities; from memorable nostalgia of happy moments gone by, to the damaging emotional effects of a heartbreak.
The best of the best use the power of words to write memorable hit songs. And you too can join them. I’m still learning from the best and what I’ve discovered is – I’m getting better at it with each song I write.
I hereby present you: ‘For Lovers of Country Music’ and hope that this lyric book will help you discover something about lyric writing.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The realization that there are not many places a struggling lyricist or songwriter can go or turn to to get honest help and direction to take and improve their writing skills. You either get a rejection slip when you try, or someone’s waiting to exploit you financially or you get turned down by the nice excuses such as: “Sorry am too busy to help you!”
This is just me giving my two cents, hoping someone in the world learns something and improves their songwriting skills.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Am a songwriter so that wasn’t hard. Real life experiences, people and places. All offer a lot of inspiration and motivation to write great lyrics for others to learn something from.
