What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Just do it! The more you write, the more confident you’ll become with your writing. Take classes. Read voraciously and think about what you liked and didn’t like about the books you read. Pay attention to how authors you enjoy write dialog and scene descriptions, how they introduce new characters, how they move the plot forward.
Author Bio:
Diane Winger is a self-described “retired software geek” who loves hiking, rock climbing, and cross-country skiing when she isn’t glued in front of her computer playing around with website designs, watching cat videos, and writing. If you meet her for only the third or fourth time, don’t be surprised if she doesn’t recognize you.
She and her husband, Charlie, are co-authors of several guidebooks on outdoor recreation. Diane was born and raised in Denver and the couple currently reside in western Colorado. “Faces” is her debut novel.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?Write what you know. I’m a retired software developer who loves to rock climb and has prosopagnosia (face blindness), so it was a natural fit for me to write a story about a young woman (I used to be that young!) whose life is turned around when she becomes face blind following a rock climbing accident. And — you guess it — she works as a software designer.
I wanted to portray the character’s experiences with face blindness in a realistic way that would help readers understand what this condition is really like.
