What inspired you to write your book?
As a Certified Master Dog Trainer and owner of two dog training schools over the course of 15+ years, I wanted to be able to help more pet owners, rather than being limited to only my geographic area.
About your Book:
Whether you have a puppy who is first learning, an adult dog with ongoing confusion, or simply want to teach your dog to use a designated bathroom area, this book answers literally every housebreaking question!
Presented in a conversational tone with an occasional bit of humor, Verni-Fogarsi provides an in-depth understanding of how dogs think and teaches the reader how to build off of and develop dogs’ instincts to keep their home clean. From the very basics to more detailed problem solving, every dog person can benefit from this book… from the first time puppy owner to rescue volunteers and even pet professionals. Well organized with a very detailed table of contents that makes future reference a snap!
Without a doubt, housebreaking your dog or puppy is an issue that is of top priority to every dog owner. Pets can be a very enjoyable part of life, but not as much if your carpets, furniture or other items are being ruined! Of course, all puppies require house training. But there are also many adult dogs with housebreaking issues too. This book thoroughly addresses every aspect of house training for both puppies and adult dogs, so you can prevent or alleviate problems.
With realistic methods adaptable to any lifestyle, sample schedules, charts, and answers to all of your questions, you can enjoy a trustworthy pet within 30 days or less!
One of the most widely acclaimed books in its genre, recommended by pet professionals since 2005, this updated and revised version is a must-have for every dog lover’s library!

How do you see writing a book in the Pet Genre as different from writing other genres of books?
There are several aspects I think are important:
1) Being a knowledgeable expert in the field.
2) Keeping in mind that people think of their pets as family and often will only follow the directions if they truly understand and believe in the methods suggested.
3) Trying to think of every detail and provide answers that are not only for the average pet, but also for those in unusual circumstances or with less common behaviors.
4) As always, making sure the book is entertaining to read so it’s not a drag!
Advice to someone that is thinking about or currently working on a pet book
Be sure to research everything thoroughly and be able to provide resources as to why that information is corrected, should you be asked. Also, readers value a comprehensive table of contents so they can easily refer back to particular sections. Last but not least, do not allow your book to be released to the public without professional editing done by an impartial party!
How did you decide how to publish your book and where is it published through:
Back when I first published the book (in 2005), I self-published through Lulu.com. Since then, I’ve developed as a writer and also have two novels: “Momnesia,” and “Unexpecting.” Now, all my books are published through my small press, Brickstone Publishing.
