Director Rob de Heer’s latest publicity stunt to revitalize his failing soap Crystal Falls – a contest giving viewers a chance to have a character shaped after them – seemed brilliant…right until Rob was found murdered on the set. Could the key to Rob’s death lie in the four finalists who have been invited to spend two weeks in a mansion in the Hollywood Hills? I chose five different narrators who all point fingers at each other. The reader might not agree with them, but he/she will understand each one of them and the decisions they made.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Never try to sound like someone else. Don’t try to adjust to a certain style or genre just because it’s popular at the moment, but remain an original voice.

Kirsten Jany was born and raised in Germany, and emigrated to Canada in 1996. She works in television post production as a sound engineer, and resides in Burlington, Ontario. In her spare time she volunteers with various animal rescues and keeps busy with her four dogs.
I wanted to show how a group of people could see the same event from a totally different – and, at times, very clouded – perspective. The whole story is an exercise in recognizing your prejudices.
