BookGoodies host Deborah Carney is joined by Nancy B. Irwin, PsyD, C.Ht., Clinical Hypnosis, Speaker/Author. Great information for new or established authors!
From Dr. Irwin:
“As a therapeutic hypnotist and doctor of psychology, I know for a fact that we are all born to win. We learn to fail, and what we learn, we can un-learn. Therefore, I work to clear away the negative programming, undesirable habits, and limiting beliefs to free the inner winner in my clients.”
I was offered a contract through a reputable publisher, and turned it down
to self-publish. My reasons were threefold:
1. It was much faster to do it myself.
2. I had complete artistic control (they wanted me to be a
cookie cutter version of their other similar self-help books)
3. I make much more per copy.
I tout self-publishing constantly as a fast, easy way to have a book as a
calling card for your business/practice. If you are willing to do the PR
work yourself, it can really pay off.
