Ariel Richards, a writer living in New York City, is fed up and bored with the current dating scene. She just can’t seem to find somebody interesting enough to hold her interest. Plus, any of her “relation-ships” have sailed and sunk, thus assuring her of her perpetual single status.
A flaky relationship psychic, hired as the entertainment at a friend’s party, does a reading and hands Ariel a cut-crystal heart necklace. “Take this,” the woman says. “As long as you wear it, you will have all the romance and adventure and interesting men you could ever dream of.”
Thus begin Ariel’s fantastical journeys into the past, where she is wined and dined by some of history’s most fascinating superstars: Ernest Hemingway, Vincent van Gogh, Ludwig van Beethoven, Clark Gable, Butch Cassidy, Charles Lindbergh, and Dracula (the most undead of the dead men.)
Ariel must decide in which world she prefers to live and love: Is it the past or the present? Can she ever find what she is looking for in either place? Does she even have any control over her destiny?
Along the way, Ariel learns lessons about herself, while facing her own fears and demons through these romances.
