What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I read the book Dorian Gray and the following day my mother called me and told me the family dog, a dachshund named Reba had died. She was 16. After I hung up the phone from my mother with Dorian Gray still on my mind, a question occurred to me. What if a dog became immortal like Dorian Gray? Also, what if that dog was just a regular dog, not super smart or anything? How long before it could understand English? By the end of that day, a book had started forming.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Dachshunds have always been ignored in modern-day cinema. Movies like 1966's The Ugly Dachshund sucked. Did you know that Mary Tyler Moore and Wayne Gretzky had wiener dogs? Yeah, no one does because no one gives a shit about wiener dogs. I do and wanted to pay tribute to the greatest dog breed on earth.
