Tell Us About Your Blog
My blog is aimed at people who are interested in crime writing, especially from the perspective of the writing itself. Its subtitle is ‘What crime writers do and how they’ve done it.’ What I do – generally – is take a recently-published book and review it in term of how the book is structured and written, drawing out some lessons for writers or those who are just interested in how crime writing work. I also delve into the archives occasionally and ‘review’ older books, too.
Why Did You Start a Book Blog?
It started as a promotional tool but also as a way for me to start think in a more structured way about crime writing. In analysing books for the reviews I’ve become much more aware myself of how to write and how to create the kind of impact I want. In that sense, it’s as much for me as it is for readers.
What Kinds of Books do You Review?
Typically contemporary crime novels, and more often than not, American crime writing. Though I did write something about Jo Nesbo …
What advice would you give new book bloggers?
Try to do it regularly, otherwise you get out of the habit.
What Formats of Manuscripts or Books Will You Accept for Reviews?
PDF, eReader formated
