This cover was inspired by a scene in the story. I have an excellent cover designer in Suzie O’Connell of Wellman Creek Designs, and we have a good working relationship. I come up with the concept and find the images, then we kick ideas back and forth, and she does the actual design. Suzie is also an accomplished writer, so she understands how powerful a good cover can be. In this case, the backlighting in the scene was important, but that required combining two images, which Suzie did with her usual skill. This is Book Two of a series, and they all have the same brush-stroke atmosphere. I like them all, but this is the most striking one.
