Comments about cover design
This is actually a new cover to a book that came out quite some time ago. For that matter, it had yet another cover for the first edition, but we do not speak of the first edition.
The old cover was.. clean looking, but dull. Like this new one, it had the blood spear, and the title, but the background was a white tile texture. I always wanted the main character, Regan Grier on the front, but my art is more anime-based, and I thought it made the book look unprofessional. I made do with what I could manage at the time, and there it sat.
Then, one day I came across an image of a model who looked enough like Regan, and was posed just like one of my favourite drawings of her. (see here: http://www.ozero.ca/gallery/oz-oprhan-wide.jpg ) It was fate! I got the rights to the image, and edited it here and there.. fixed the hair, cut away the background, then built a brand new background.
The blood smear is still there, as is the nanite… (he’s a crude representation of a microscopic robot.) On the spine of the softcovers and hardcovers, he matches up to create a version of himself across all three books of the Lifehack series.
Lifehack is my first book, and it was great to give baby a brand new coat!
