From the Other Side of the Couch

Comments about cover design
This book welcomes you into my counseling office where I share the insights God has given to me on both sides of the couch. The introduction begins with a description of my office–including the afghan and pillow crocheted by my aunt Goldie which clients use as a source of comfort as they talk about hurt and pain. Rather than using a stock photo or an expected couch graphic, I asked my designer Tabitha Stone to photograph the afghan. Knitting/crocheting is very ‘in,” bringing an organic honesty to an over-processed, fast-paced lifestyle.
I love how your eye is drawn to the texture of the pillow. It brings the reader into my office where they can imagine curling up in a safe, inviting atmosphere. The light at the top of the cover lifts the spirit and offers the reader hope that the message within can be transformative.
