Great omage, definitely screams scifi cover… but I worry your title and author name are way to small for a thumbnail. Maybe move your name to the bottom and increase the size of the title. Also, gold letters with a backlight or drop shadow might pop more.
Very cool about Deviant art. The one time I asked about an image I never even got a response.
