Will the world survive the alien organism unleashed in Central Park?
When a group of drunken skinheads vandalize Central Park’s Cleopatra’s Needle obelisk, they set off an unearthly chain of events. An ancient alien organism, dormant for centuries, is unleashed and threatens to consume the city, the country, and the world.
The fate of humanity rests in the hands of Captain Charles “Biggs” Mosley of the NYPD, the US Military, and the nation’s most renowned virologists. Will they be able to save the world in time? Or will the darkness of the Maelstrom consume them all?
Set in gritty 1990’s New York City, Cleopatra’s Needle: Maelstrom is an intense horror science fiction thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you enjoyed the suspense and horror of Stephen King’s The Stand, you’ll be captivated by this mind blowing page-turner.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Existential threats, such as pandemics, racism, and climate change are themes that fascinate me. I wanted to explore these themes through the lens of another era, namely 1995 New York City, and pose a question to the reader, "Has anything really changed at all in almost 30 years?" As a screenwriter, I write crime thrillers and suspense, so the novel had to have a fast-paced thrill ride aspect to it, with a touch of romance.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
All of my characters are composites of individuals I have met, through my work as a screenwriter, or in my personal life. In research for some of my scripts, I have spent time riding along with the police in NYC, Miami, LA and other gritty urban cities, interviewing them and observing their demeanor on and off the job, so I can portray them accurately. I have also researched virologists and other scientists to add authenticity to my novel.
