Tell Us About Your Blog
Think 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s … maybe, later, we’ll even take it through the ’80s … but it’s all about music, and radio, and DJs, and simply how much fun we had then and where is everyone now?
The 1950s, ’60s & ’70s are bound together by a fantastic music phenomenon. Rock & Roll music explored its babyhood, discovered its power, and exploded into its own universe in these three amazing decades.
Who were the most influential people to stoke the Rock & Roll fire? Musicians, record moguls, ambitious advertisers, and Radio Disk Jockeys. Do you remember Cousin Brucie? Dr. Don Rose? How about Ron Riley, Joey Reynolds, or Shotgun Tom Kelly? Some of them are still spinning platters and sharing behind-the-microphone patter!
A tribute to the pioneering Rock Radio DJs and the music that changed the world. It’s a fun partner to the book series website, www.BlastFromYourPast.net.
I’m just getting started in reviewing books of “the day.” Have a book about radio or music of the era? Contact me and I’ll offer an honest review. I’m also an author consultant and been in writing / publishing for nearly twenty years … love to support indie authors!
Why Did You Start a Book Blog?
The Blast from Your Past book and blog began innocently enough … I needed to research for a magazine article about Rock & Roll memorabilia. I contacted Bill Gardner, a friend and Radio DJ extraordinaire, and through our chat, I kept hearing my muse whispering … “Write the book, write the book, write the book!” So what I thought would be one book is turning into a minimum three-book series. Book 1 is in print and ebook on Amazon: “Blast from Your Past! Rock & Roll Radio DJs: the First Five Years 1954-1959.”
What Kinds of Books do You Review?
Any books (print and ebook) that celebrate the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s in music, radio, and lifestyles. Coming soon … another blog … Books & Boomers (by, for, about the Boomer generation).
What advice would you give new book bloggers?
Know that it’s going to take a few dollars to do blogs right. I’m still workin’ on that part. And know your topic(s) of expertise. Readers will know if you’re fakin’ it.
What Formats of Manuscripts or Books Will You Accept for Reviews?
