What inspired you to write your book?
I have two reasons for writing this book First of all, I love animals — especially dogs. I wanted to write about them and also raise some money to help dogs in shelters, so the publisher is donating a portion of the book sales to no-kill shelters.
About your Book:
A book of short stories and fables designed specifically for dog lovers. The topics range from mythology to magic and horror stories (for dogs) combined with a little sprinkling of canine poetry. The book also includes a creative retelling of the Gingerbread Man from a dog’s perspective. You share so much with your dog, why not read together, also?
Book Genre: Fiction
What formats are your books in
Both eBook and Print
How do you see writing a book in the Pet Genre as different from writing other genres of books?
In this particular case where the stories were written from the pet’s perspective, it’s a bit like writing for children. The writing is less abstract, but it’s also simply written. The passages aren’t too complex, and the stories are fairly short. I set this up as an easy and fun read for people who love animals and wonder what these animals would like to read if they could do so for themselves.
Advice to someone that is thinking about or currently working on a pet book
Write about an animal or pet you love and write from the heart.
How did you decide how to publish your book and where is it published through:
I have a contract with Fog Ink.
Author Bio:
I’ve been publishing for over a decade and am the author of a number of fiction books for both adults and children. I’ve also been published in business and academic journals, as well as literary publications. A few of my favorite things include traveling, books, movies, art, the Oxford comma, and gargoyles. I really love gargoyles.
