Mira & Jax find a Mound Builder platform pipe in their backyard. They take it to the local museum curators who date it to the Hopewell people of 100 BCE. Scratches on the bottom of the pipe is discovered to be ancient writing, and museum curators reject the pipe as a hoax. Mira & Jax know it’s real and they take their pipe to the local television network for a Mound Builder interview.
Adsilha is a young woman living in 74 BC Mound Builder society. Presenting herself to the Chief Matriarch of her village, she is ready to be betrothed. On her way to the Gathering, Adsilha is kidnapped by rebels using her to blackmail her Chief Judge father into civil war.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I love going to the Mound Builder sites of Ohio. It's fun to study the culture, handle their ancient artifacts, and wonder what life was like so long ago. After so much time of wondering, I began to write it all down.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I have spunky grandchildren. I wanted to write for them. My characters were people I think my grandchildren would find interesting.

Lewenkha jumped over the tree and slid down next to me.
"We must get away from here," he said. His eyes swept over
me. "Can you run?"
Without bothering to hear my answer, he pulled me to
standing. In one quick move he hoisted Zenkiah onto his
shoulder. He ran, jumping over the bodies of the fallen. I
strived to keep up.
Out of nowhere, a warrior with a bright red forehead sprang
up in front of Lewenkha and hit him with a tree branch. Lewenkha
went down, dropping Zenkiah in front of me. I stumbled over her,
trying not to hurt her, and fell head-long into a rock.
Blinking against the light, I rolled over to see a red-
painted warrior standing above me. He swung a club and
everything went black.
