An Unethical Murder by William Mansfield
It all starts with a car crash that kills a friend of Laguna Beach real estate appraiser, Alex Wright. He is unwilling to accept that it was an accident. The action develops as Alex, along with his surfing buddy, Newport Beach Police Captain Zack Potrero, search for the compelling motivation and reasonable opportunity among a list of possible suspects…. Meanwhile, Alex’s romance with 4-time World Champion surfer, Rachel Fix heats up; in this, the fifth story in the ALEX WRIGHT MYSTERY/ADVENTURE SERIES… an exciting and fun read!

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
As someone who practices real estate and teaches the subject, I have always felt it curious that appraisers are not considered in novels and films. These folks are trained as researchers and to be observant inspectors. I hope Alex Wright can shed light on these most capable amateur investigators.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Throughout the series, I have added new characters to the stories. My main character, Alex Wright, is an amalgam of various people I have known who live the beach life in Southern California.

“Greed is in the air. All these refi’s and sloppy loan processing are making a mockery out of the appraisal process. Everywhere I go I see clear violations of USPAP. Everywhere I go I see new trainees sent out into the field with little or no supervision. It’s not right. This will be another black eye on our profession and will once again show the careless disregard of the banking industry,” Lewis said, his wiry swimmer’s body and stiff, military posture making his five foot eight inch height appear taller.
