It’s mostly a book review blog, although I have a post or two here and there on World of Warcraft or knitting or movies or just me talking. I am part of NetGalley and get a lot of books there to read and review honestly and I do participate in blog tours, etc., organized by quite a few bigger name bloggers such as Xpresso Reads, I am a Reader Not a Writer, Full Moon Bites, Book Monster Promo, Literary Quill Promos, etc.
Why Did You Start a Book Blog?
I’m a 35 year old woman who adores reading, animals, enjoys playing video games such as World of Warcraft, knitting, cooking, and hanging out with loved ones and friends. I was an early reader, age 2!, and have been devouring books since.
I read SO much that I was starting to forget what book was about what. So I started taking notes. And then an author had me download his book from netgalley and I discovered I could get free eARCs from publishers in exchange for my honest unbiased review. Hellllloooooooooooo reading! And then, after a few posts, I discovered blog tours and memes and hops and am having fun being a social participant on the web talking about one of my greatest love: READING!
What Kinds of Books do You Review?
It’d be easier to say what I do not like to read or review: non-fiction, erotica, and christian fiction. Not that I don’t occasionally read those, but they are not my favorite. I genre jump often as I love variety in my reading, but my favorite genres tend to be Urban Fantasy & Romance, Paranormal Fantasy & Romance, Young Adult, Young Adult Fantasy, New Adult, Science Fiction, Fantasy (high and dark).
What advice would you give new book bloggers?
Read what you love and be honest in your reviews. I find the latter half of that a bit difficult at times because I do not want to rip to shreds someone’s hard work, but at the same time, I need to be true. Comment and connect with others because that’s the social aspect of the internet. I’m still new, too (less than a year), but I’m learning about SO many different new books from following and reading other blogs. Sign up for Netgalley or Edelweiss!
