What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Over the years, a few friends encouraged me to write a romance novel because they knew I'm a romantic at heart, and I'm never at a loss for words. But I dismissed the idea, not knowing how to begin, let alone finish, such a formidable-sounding task. Then I met someone who became a good friend as we talked for hours on end about many things, including his Native American heritage. As I learned more about his culture, I realized we shared a deep kinship through NA spirituality. He kept urging me to write a book, until, finally, an idea blossomed and resulted in me writing about how our friendship might've developed if we'd met as teens in high school.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
My romantic protagonists came to life in my imagination after I decided to write my debut novel. They are based on a fictional representation of how I imagined a Native American friend and I might have interacted if we'd met as teenagers.
